The writer of Hebrews wants to capture the attention of the first hearers. So it is a Majestic and impressive opening.

This is what the first hearers needed.  They needed to have Jesus recapture their attention.  They were distracted and drifting away because  of the threat of a fresh experience of suffering.

As we start the year it is good for us to refocus on Jesus as the centre of our lives.
