ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2014

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – 11am Sunday 26 October

UPDATE: BAPTISM & MEMBERSHIP PROPOSAL

Following the church forum held last Sunday (12/10/14), the elders have modified the original proposal regarding baptism and membership in response to some of the feedback received.

For more information, see the complete proposal printed on the back page of the AGM reports booklet.

The revised proposed modification would add an exception in the “The Congregation” section of the guidelines, immediately following the paragraph beginning “The church membership shall consist of those…” The addition would read:

Exception: If a person meets all other membership criteria but has been baptised according to a different, but still biblically based, Christian practice, and sincerely believes that it would be contrary to Scripture to be baptised again by immersion, they may be accepted as members at the discretion of the elders.

This is the proposal that will be voted on at the upcoming AGM.

PROPOSED CHANGE RE: CHANGE OF TIMING OF AGM

Motion: Change the sentence in the Guidelines in relation to the timing of the AGM from this:

” An Annual Meeting of church members shall be held in October each year.”
to this: “An Annual Meeting of church shall be held in the second half of each year.”

For the last few years we have had the Vision Series in October-November as this is a good time to have it. This time allows us to wrap up the year as we head towards the end of the year and plan for the next year. The AGM is also in October and it ends up doubling the workload as we try and organise it and the Vision Series.
The Elders are proposing that we move the AGM to earlier in the year say for example the end of August or the beginning of September.
The Elders think it is a small but necessary change as we move forward.
