Songs for Sunday May 17

What a gift it is to know that our God knows us more than we know ourselves. He knows our hopes and dreams, as well as our doubts and fears. He knows our coming and our going, as well as our sitting and our waiting.

“You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”

even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.”

(Psalm 139:1-12)

Song 1: All My Ways

Song 2: Blessed Be Your Name

As we continue looking at Romans 8 today we’re reminded that “in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). May it be that, whatever our circumstances, we choose to bless His Name, knowing that He is sovereign over all things.

Song 3: Before the Throne of God Above

A song to sing after the sermon: Only A Holy God

Who else could rescue me from my failing
Who else would offer His only Son
Who else invites me to call Him Father
Only a Holy God
Only my Holy God!
